Each handmade ceramic mug is shaped, glazed and painted individually in our studio, then kiln-fired. The toucan is drawn by hand, so its posture and colour balance differ on every mug — each bird is its own.

Tropical birds are hard to do well: too flat and they look like clip art, too busy and they lose the shape. Hand-painting lets the colours sit against each other the way they do in life, which is why this bird mug reads as illustration rather than decoration.
